Very interesting public debate on abstinence based treatment of drug addiction at one side, and the discussion on decriminalization versus legalization of drugs at the other.

I have to say that I am not a fan of Russell Brand's comedy, but his eloquence is fascinating. Very convincing arguments and interesting to see the reactions of the on-viewer sitting behind his left shoulder.

At the beginning of this month, Epipheo TV launched a very true video on the way we are bound to lose concentration through to excessive internet usage. I can definitely relate to this statement as I often find myself wasting too much time reading/viewing/clicking/browsing through articles/videos/links/images that are mostly very interesting (or entertaining) at the time, but resulting in finding myself spending more time in front of the computer screen without actually getting work done.

Vandaag hebben de Jong Socialisten plantjes losgelaten in het centrum van Leuven, dit om aandacht te vragen voor meer (eetbaar) groen in de stad. Vooral veel jonge radijsplantjes, courgettes, tomaat en braamstruiken werden aan voorbijgangers aangereikt en op openbare plaatsen gezet. Hierbij wordt iedereen uitgenodigd om plantjes mee naar huis te nemen en ze te laten groeien zodat men van de oogst kan genieten.

Freek de Jonge en Bob Dylan

Vandaag zat ik op café en opeens hoor ik de melodie van "Leven na de dood", maar stukken trager en duidelijk niet als komisch nummer gebracht. Het was duidelijk Nick Cave zijn stem en toen daagde het voor de allereerste keer in mijn bestaan: "Leven na de dood" is een persiflage...

Ongetwijfeld ben ik de laatste persoon op aarde die dat doorheeft, dus lach maar, maar voor mij was het echt een openbaring dat de melodie eigenlijk van Bob Dylan afkomstig is. Het nummer waar ik als puber zo vaak mee gelachen heb (en ja, nu natuurlijk ook nog) was oorspronkelijk dus doodserieus?

De administratief bediende die in maart 2012 werd ontslagen omdat hij  in zijn vrije tijd naaktfoto's had gemaakt in het gerechtsgebouw in Gent, krijgt nu 15.000 euro morele schadevergoeding omdat de rechter oordeelt dat zijn ontslag om dringende redenen buiten proportie was. (artikel, video)
