In last week's episode of the TED Radio Hour, the topic was The Future of Cities. In the first part of the radio hour, we come across the environmentalist Stewart Brand who I have discussed last year in my article on Ecopragmatism.
Listen to his talk of last week, covering the topic how people in slums can work together to push themselves out of poverty.
This same idea is also been discussed in Eric S. Reinert's book "How Rich Countries got Rich and why Poor Countries stay Poor". For the necessary development and economic growth, the rural areas need a city to supply food to. Both urban and countryside support each other to make a society grow.
