Updating Firefox when Bunsenlabs (Debian) refuses

Soooo, Slack announced months ago that, starting from March 1st 2023, it will no longer support Firefox version 91 and below.

I knew this, and planned to update way ahead of time, but.... you know. It is never urgent enough until the day is there (or even passed).

Problem is: apt refuses to upgrade my preferred browser and I have been stuck at 91-esr for months now.

I don't know if it is Debian its choice, or if my favourite flavour Bunsenlabs is forcing this (probably because I haven't upgraded to Beryllium yet), result is: I got to find a way around this.

Now here is what I did, it works for me but it might not be the best solution so suggestions are welcome:

Hoe krijg je een milieubox open?

Het lijkt een goedbewaard geheim: het openen van de milieubox. Wie kent hem nog, de groene doos die we in de jaren 90 cadeau kregen van de Vlaamse regering om ons klein gevaarlijk afval in te stockeren.

Activating Windows XP after support has ended

So, although I am a Linux-user (since CrunchBang is no longer supported, I switched to BunsenLabs), from time to time I have to do some testing on a Windows-system.

The only OS that I have a genuine installation from, is a Windows XP CD that I once found lying next to a discarded desktop. The installation still works perfectly, the product key is all there, but as well know: Windows XP is no longer supported and after 30 days, you need to activate the copy by internet or phone (which is no longer possible).

Still, there is a solution:

Qt MySQL Driver

Next step in the project: get a databaseconnection to store / retrieve the data. Didn't go as smoothly as planned. The following short post is simply a reminder for future reference. Comments are welcome!

Qt in Windows Vista, MinGW and QJson (qt-google-maps)

I am having quite a rough week. For a project I am using the Google Maps API within C++-code. As I prefer to use a Linux environment but usually my clients use Windows, I have become a big fan of the Qt framework.
